INTRODUCTIONThe Ricoh GRII is a high end digital point and shoot camera made in Japan in 2015. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESThe Ricoh GRII is a nice camera, excellent for street photo. It's small, even smaller than a Fuji X100T. It has a nice grip, and buttons are well designed. It does not get too much attention, it has no credibility, I mean, people do not take it seriously, people won't harrass you when you do street photo with it, which is a huge advantage. Like a Fuji X100T, the Ricoh GRII is an excellent camera for street photography. I personally found the film simulations less appealing compairing to the Fuji ones. In my opinion, the Ricoh high contrast black and white has a good contrast, but leaves a looses too much detail in the shadows. I prefer using a less contrasty settingin the camera to keep details in both shadows and highlights, then augment the contrast on the computer to have a real nice image. When used in prefocus, the GRII is excellent, but when using autofocus, the speed is slow, and you will surely miss many shots. CONCLUSIONFor the price, the Ricoh GRII is a very nice street photography camera. If you have more money, get a Fuji instead. PHOTO SAMPLESVERDICT:
