INTRODUCTIONThe Olympus M-1 is a 35mm SLR camera made in Japan in 1972. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESThe Olympus M-1 is quite rare, about 52000 bodies have been made. This is because Leica did not like Olympus using the same name as them, so Olympus renamed the M-1 to OM-1. The M-1 is very close to the OM-1, just a few differences here and there, but they are basically the same camera. After using a lot of SLR cameras, I can appreciate the compactness and light weight of the M-1. The viewfinder is nice and bright, the default screen has only microprism to focus, which is not my favourite, I personally prefer the split image over the microprism, but the matte screen can be changed on this model. The M-1 also have access to many good lenses, and accessories. I would recommend this camera to anyone who needs a 35mm SLR that is compact and light. CONCLUSIONBecause it is rare, I cannot recommend the Olympus M-1. But, the OM-1 is easier to find, less expensive, and as good. Lenses are excellent, the system is compact, light and cheap.
