INTRODUCTIONThe Nikon F70 is a 35mm film SLR camera made in Japan by Nikon, between 1994 and 2002. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESThe Nikon F70 is not intended for professionnal photographer, but more for beginner, with its load of scene modes. It's a nice camera, very capable, with all the modes you need, and then some. The camera fits well in my hands, and when you are holding it horizontally, there is a nice grip when you put your thumb just over the strap on the right side, I feel I could hold that camera a full day like this and have fun with it. The top LCD is emblematic of this specific model, the F70's LCD shows options in a nice round green background. Even if you have to fiddle a bit to learn them, the controls are ergonomic, it's a camera that could grow on me. One small drawback, the camera has to be powered on to see the counter. The finder is big, clear, and has a very nice backlit display at the bottom, clearly showing a lot of information, like : speed, aperture, metering mode, exposure mode, focussing zone, focus status and flash information. Flash sync includes slow synd and second curtain sync, which can be creative if needed, but the camera lacks a PC sync, you need to use a Nikon AS-15 if you want to do some studio work. On top of having a pop-up flash, it also has a standard Nikon hot shoe. The autofocus system is not too noisy, it's fast, and it can focus correctly even in quite dark environments. The F70 needs 2 CR123 batteries to work. CONCLUSIONThe Nikon F70 is a nice, quite capable package and it can be bough for cheap. It's compatible with a lot of great lenses, it's not the best, I would prefer a F6, F5, or even a nice F4, but for the price, you can't go wrong. PHOTO SAMPLESVERDICT:
