INTRODUCTIONThe Lomo Lubitel 166B was first made in 1980 in Russia. You can still find some in new condition on eBay. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESThe shutter looks very similar to the one on the Lomo Smena 8M. The optics is far from perfect, but looks better than any recent Lomo. The viewfinder has a small angle of view, you have to be in the exact right angle to see all the picture when composing, this can be annoying if you are used to better cameras. The built quality is pretty nice, for a Lomo.... No light leaks here. It's not a Yashica-A or Hasselblad 500c/m, but the quality is ok, mostly metal. I bought a blue model, which is quite nice, cute, it attracts a bit of attention, mostly curiosity. CONCLUSIONThe Lomo Lubitel 166B is a nice camera for the price. If you want to try a TLR camera, I would skip this one and buy a Yashica-A instead, for the same price. If you want to do some real lomography, I still would skip this one and get a Holga 120.
