INTRODUCTIONThe Fuji X-A2 is a mirrorless camera made by Fuji in 2015. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESInfrared photography has been a part time inspiration for me, capturing the reflections of infrared from different subject is fun, beautiful, and is a good learning experience. In black and white, it can be a nice artform. Since about 10 years, I made my own infrared filters (see how here), but I always dreamt having a camera dedicated for infrared photography. With the X-A2, that day came for me. I chose the Fuji X-A2 for many reasons. Fuji image quality is flawless, it has access to many great lenses, which already have been tested in infrared (see here for some reviews), the camera is small and light, and being mirrorless in infrared has its own advantages, what you see on the screen is what you get, ho! and no need for a viewfinder, optical viewfinders in IR doesn't show you what you will get. An electronic viewfinder could be a nice to have, but not necessary. Fuji X-A2 to the rescue ! The X-A2 is not easy to convert, I gave the task to Marc Carrière of Zone7, who is a well known camera whiz in Montreal. I highly recommend his old/new camera repair services. Even if there are some mixed reviews about the Fujinon XC 16-50mm that comes with the camera, I found it to be very sharp. I saw some hot spots, but not at all apertures, I still have a few tests to do. But the bottom line is: excellent images can be done with it, so I'm very happy :-) CONCLUSIONThe Fuji X-A2 is the entry level into the excellent Fuji X system. The image quality is excellent, I recommend this camera to anyone who wants to have a taste of the Fuji X system, and it's quite impressive when converted in IR. PHOTO SAMPLESVERDICT:
