PERSONAL NOTES

The Diana came from Hong Kong, during the 60s. The Diana F model had a socket for dedicated flash unit that uses flashbulbs. The Newer Diana F+ is the new version from Lomography. I used all 3 models.

The Diana cameras are very light, and produces real low fi images. Nothing fancy. Sometimes, I do like lomography, or low fi photography, just for the fun of photographying anything, putting the aesthetics over technique, a nice exercise that keeps our eye fit.

Even for lomography, the Diana cameras have flaws. First, the image size does not take advantage of the full 6x6 medium format, they are more 4x4 ish. Second, their shutter release button is kind of klunky, its very difficult to keep the camera very still when pressing the shutter. And third, the use of a flash that is not dedicated is a plus.

For all these reasons, I cannon recommend the Diana, instead, I can encourage people who want to do some lomography to get a Holga, much better.

CONCLUSION

If you want to get into lomography and want to experiment medium format film, leave the Diana alone and get a Holga.
