INTRODUCTION

The Canon Powershot G9 is a not so compact point and shoot camera made in Japan in 2007.

BEST SUITED FOR:

Good for nothing!

PERSONAL NOTES

The Canon Powershot G9 is not that compact, but like the G series of cameras, it has more features than smaller compact cameras. It has more control, command dials, a flash shoe, accessories, ect...

In that period of time, compact cameras with full manual control were extremely rare or incredibely expensive. The answer at that time was to buy one of there less compact cameras.

I had 2 of these, they both dies because of one big flaw it had. At some point, there was a screw that freely moved inside the camera. Cheaply made by Canon I guess. No loctite on screw heads. the inevitable happens, the screw makes an electrical contact somewhere transforming the camera into a brick.

After two of these, I decided to move to something else.

CONCLUSION

The era of ultra compact cameras with no manual control is over. The is no real reason for me to buy one of these kind of cameras anymore.
