INTRODUCTION

The Canon Powershot A540 is a point and shoot camera made in Japan in 2006.

BEST SUITED FOR:

Good for nothing!

PERSONAL NOTES

I bought this camera to play with CHDK, which is an OS that runs on Powershot cameras that gives you more control, like: RAW images, bracketing, full manual control, live histograms, grids, motion detection, USB remote control, scripting...

This was very fun to use (for the inner geek in me), and opened new horizons. I could do stuff I can only do with a big DSLR, but with a much smaller camera.

If you like to play with technical stuff, or if you need to do more with a small camera, CHDK is worth looking at.

CONCLUSION

The Canon Powershot A540 is now obsolete. Other more recent cameras are still compatible with CHDK.
