INTRODUCTIONThe Canon 7 is a 35mm film rangefinder camera made in Japan in 1961. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESI kind of like the Canon 7. It's no Leica, but it's fun, quiet, and has a bright finder. Not as quiet as any Leica M, but quiet enough. The finder is not as bright as a Leica M, but it's way better than many rangefinders. It has access to nice lenses, which are cheaper than Leica, but still expensive sometimes. If you're broke, you can even put an old russian or Ukrainien lens on it and do zone focussing (these lenses have cams that are not ajusted properly to work with the Canon rangefinder). The Canon 7 is nicely designed, I like the feeling of the black speed dial moves, smooth. With these cameras, usually the meter is dead, so expect to use it only in manual mode, and have some sort of light meter (perhaps another camera) on the side. The Canon 7 is simple, cheap, solid, fun and cute. What more can we ask? I honestly prefer it over the more expensive Nnikon S rangefinders. CONCLUSIONFor the price, the Canon 7 is one of the best rangefinders you can buy. PHOTO SAMPLESVERDICT:
