The "35mm film cassette shape camera" is a 35mm film viewfinder camera made in China. It is unclear when it was made, probably between end of 80s to end of 90s. It is a novelty.

PERSONAL NOTES

The "35mm film cassette shape camera" is clearly a fun thing, and object that is sure to raise questions, fun, but of course not great. It's one of these cameras that is all about the experience, the fun, and not the results.

Easy to use, pop-in a film, raise the panel that covers the lens and you get the viewfinder. Just point and shoot. If you need a flash, it won't tell you, you need to manually flip a switch to activate the flash. You also need to wait a few seconds until the green light on the top of the camera lights on, it indicates that the flash is ready. Then you can press the shutter.

You have to remember to flip the flash switch back to off. If not, you batteries will be dead sooner... I liked the design of a similar camera, the Kodak Cameo, when you were closing the pannel, the flash switch automatically were turned off, simple but effective.

To advance to the next frame, simply twist one end of the camera, you'll hear clicks and it will stop when the film is wound and the shutter is cocked again.

Simply flip back the panel in its original position and you have a camera in the shape of a big film canister.

Cheaply made, but cool. The design is not great, we can easily trip the pin to rewind the film, and when looking through the viewfinder, it's not clear exactly what you are framing. And because the camera is cylindrical, it's not easy to put your eye at the proper place to compose. You nose is always in the way...

It's a fun object, but that's all there is to it.

CONCLUSION

If you are a camera collector, or like funny objects, you need one. If you want descent quality photos, get something else.
