INTRODUCTIONThe Argus C3 is a 35mm rangefinder camera made in USA. It was produced for a long time, from 1939 to 1966, making it one of the most popular rangefinder camera ever. BEST SUITED FOR:
PERSONAL NOTESYou probably have seen it in some movies, the Argus C3 can be cute. It looks like a brick, if feels like a brick, and it weights a brick. This is why it's regularly called "the brick". The obvious thing missing on that camera is strap lugs. The design is simple, a bit like a Leica 3, it has 2 finders, a viewfinder and a rangefinder, you switch from them to focus and compose. Such a design was often seen in the 30s. By the 50s, this was a bit old, and surpassed by other designs which brang the 2 finders together, making focussing and composing easier. The Argus C3 is still fun to shoot with today. A bit limited but not too much, rudimentary ergonomics, but still fun. Note: please be gentle when winding as the film transport can be hard on the film roll sometimes... CONCLUSIONThe Argus C3 is a very cheap rangefinder, and is fun to shoot with. You get a bit more than what you pay for with these. PHOTO SAMPLESVERDICT:
