PERSONAL NOTES

The Agfa Optima 535 Sensor in a very nicely made compact camera from Germany. Elegant design, simple to use with strong build quality. You can recognize this line of Agfa cameras by the very nice big orange shutter release.

Its viewfinder is comfortable, bright and it has paralax lines for when you are close range. It has green and red lights to indicate if there is enough light to take the picture. If it's red, it won't lock the camera, you can still take the photo, but you better use a tripod.

The camera uses scale focusing, and with this lens, the depth of field is not that shallow, so it's ok.

It uses 3 PX625 batteries. A special fact about this camera is that is you need to change the batteries, you have to open the back of the camera where the film is. With a regular camera you would then loose you film if you did not rewinded it. But with this Agfa, the film is wound into a dark chamber, so technically, just open the back door, change the batteries, and you would probably just destroy your last photo. Not the best, but not too bad.

The paratronic shutter is an equivalent of program mode. It takes care of both the speed and the aperture, you only have to point and shoot. The downside is that there is no manual controls.

The advance is easy and the film counter window is clear and easy to read.

A very nice and fun camera

CONCLUSION

The Agfa Optima 535 Sensor is a very nicely put together camera that is fun to use. If you want to have fun, I really recommend it!
